Healthy Aging is Easier Than You Think!

As lifestyle counselors, we work with clients to help them make everyday living choices to improve their health.  The choices are easy:  Choose more nutrient dense foods with naturally occurring ingredients.  Exercise to balance your energy.  Drink an adequate amount of pure water and manage the stress in your life.  Healthy aging is easier than you think!

The challenging part of our work is in helping clients see how their personal philosophies are in the way.  Have you ever heard a motivational speaker say, "You need to get out of your own way"?  That's how a strongly held negative personal belief or defective world view can hamper behavioral change.

We help our clients dig deep into their psyches and excavate beliefs that may be preventing them from moving their health in a positive direction.  We have a number of techniques that we use.  One of them is to encourage clients to ask probing life questions.  We call the exercise Living the Questions.  You try it.

Ask yourself, "What do I almost know about my health and lifestyle choices?"

See there!  Your mind did a few somersaults didn't it?  We know.  Our job is to keep discovering ways to help even the most stubborn clients let go of thought patterns and behaviors that are no longer useful and may, in fact, even be harmful to their health.

Our advice to you is to probe yourself.  Live life's questions.  You don't always need an answer.  Sometimes the question alone is enough to cause a shift in your thinking.  And that shift in mindset...is a miracle.
